GOLDEN HISTORY MOMENT

Golden Transcript – August 11, 1978 – Pipers Piping

The August 11, 1978 Golden Transcript previewed the Highland Games that would take place that Saturday at Brooks Field on the School of Mines campus. In the meantime, the town had been hosting the Rocky Mountain School of Piping that week, and the air was full of bagpipe music.

Golden Transcript – August 18, 1978 – Highland Dance and a caber toss

The Highland Games were held in Golden from 1973-1988. After that, they moved to Highlands Ranch for several years and now take place in Estes Park, as part of the annual Scottish-Irish Highland Festival.

Thanks to the Golden History Museum for providing the online cache of historic Transcripts, and to the Golden Transcript for documenting our history since 1866!
