Snowmageddon and Museums of Increasing Antiquity

The Jefferson County Public Schools and the School of Mines are both closed today, in anticipation of the snow storm.


These are the events scheduled today…probably a good idea to confirm before heading out.

Noon – Golden Women in Business Book Club at Connects Workspace. They’re scheduled to discuss Becoming by Michelle Obama.

6PM – Fly-Tying Class at Golden River Sports

Dinosaur Ridge recently posted their plans to celebrate 30 years of operations. They plan a full weekend of events over the weekend of April 25-28th, including a dinosaur movie party, dinosaur-themed carnival, a gala dinner and silent auction, lectures and tours.

This got me thinking about the ages of Golden’s many museums. I thought you might be interested too:

The American Mountaineering Museum opened in 2008, so it turns 11 this year

The Clear Creek History Park turns 20 this year

The Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum is 29.

Dinosaur Ridge celebrates their 30th anniversary this year.

Foothills Art Center is 51.

The Colorado Railroad Museum turns 60 this year.

The Golden History Museum opened 80 years ago in January of this year.

The Buffalo Bill Museum opened in 1921, so it’s 98 this year
1874
The granddaddy of all of our museums, the CSM Geology Museum, is 145 years old!
