The August 8, 1963 Colorado Transcript covered the 100th Anniversary of 1st Baptist Church. The congregation had recently built a new church, and they used the opportunity of the anniversary to dedicate the new building. The ceremony was attended by about 140 people, including two former pastors–one from the 1920s and one from the ’30s.

The congregation’s previous church building–built in 1863 at 12th and Jackson–had been sold to the City and razed to build a parking lot.

Thanks to the Golden History Museum for providing the online cache of historic Transcripts, and many thanks to the Golden Transcript for documenting our history since 1866!
