Skatepark, downtown business, and Mayor’s Awards

There will be a public input meeting about the Ulysses Skate Park tonight at 6:30 at the Community Center (1470 10th St.).  The designers will show the latest conceptual designs.

The Downtown Development Authority meets tonight at 6:30 in City Council Chambers.  They will discuss whether changes are needed to the downtown traffic lights, to improve the flow of traffic.    They will also consider a grant request of $4925 from the Golden Visitors Center, to install ADA-compliant doors.  They will discuss several possible infrastructure projects, such as curb, drainage, and pavement improvements, more bike racks, more public art, and possible streetscape changes.  They will also consider some public comments received about downtown parking.  See their agenda on the City website for more information.

Tomorrow night, the Mayor and the Golden Rotary Club will host the 6th Annual Mayor’s Awards for Excellence at the Community Center.  Golden resident and nationally-acclaimed speaker David Wann will talk about making our lives more “sustainable,” and Mayor Sloan will present awards to the Christian Action Guild, Spyderco, Dr. Jim Dale, and Emmy Dimitroff.
