Missing the Parades?
10AM and 1PM You can watch highlights from previous parades on GCO.tv. (Unlike live parades, if you miss the first one, you have another chance at 1PM!)
You can also watch last night’s holiday lighting ceremony on Facebook. It was delightful, as always, and much shorter than usual–less than 7 minutes!

You can do this two ways–first, just walk around with the map. You can get one from the Visitors Center (map) or download it.
Second, you can download the Scavify app and search for OLDE GOLDEN CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY STORY STROLL. If you do it that way, you can earn points and a chance to win prizes. Learn more….

Golden History Moment
On December 5, 1911, Angelina Garramone was scheduled to stand trial for the murder of her godmother, Marie LaGuardia. Mrs. LaGuardia had last been seen in August of 1910, in the company of Garramone and two other women.
The other women (Mrs. and Miss Forgione) testified that they had accompanied Garramone and LaGuardia to Golden on “the electric cars” (the trolley). Garramone had enticed her godmother to accompany her by saying she was taking her to Mr. LaGuardia.
The four women walked around South Table Mountain for a while, then spent the night at the depot in Golden, and returned to the mountain the next day. Mrs. Garramone persuaded Mrs. LaGuardia to remove the scarf around her neck, then slit her throat with a butcher knife, stole her money, and rolled the body into a gulch.
Rancher J.M. Johnson found the body on his property the following August. The remains were scattered, but later identified by scraps of clothing, shoes, and her gray hair.
The Sheriff investigated and tracked down the two Forgione women, who witnessed the crime. They described the murder and showed where it had happened. They said they had not come forth earlier because they were afraid that Garramone would put a curse on them.
In the meantime, Garramone’s former partner had been found murdered in Globeville, with a slit throat. Officials thought she may have been killed to keep her from telling police about Garramone’s crimes.
By the time LaGuardia’s body was discovered, Garramone was in the penitentiary in Canyon City for the crime of forgery. They brought her to Golden for the trial.
She was found guilty and sentenced to life in the penitentiary. Ten years later, she was paroled.
