Yesterday’s tree-climbing class was cancelled because not enough people registered.  They plan to offer it again on August 20th.  (Thanks to Sandi Staley for the info!)

This should be a blissfully calm Sunday in Golden.  If you’re out and about by 10, join the yoga class in Parfet Park at 10AM.  The Buffalo Rose will have music on the patio-Joe Bye & Guy Tittes at 11AM and Drama Americana at 3:30.  Wrigley’s will have Parkside playing on their patio from 3-7.

As John Muir said, “The mountains are calling, and I must go.”  Check our trails page to find out the best way to get there.

The City is offering two opportunities to learn more about the inner workings:

The Public Works Academy starts on September 1 and ends in early October.  Participants will learn about water storage, treatment, and distribution; how the city handles stormwater and wastewater, the building department and how the City uses GIS, and streets and pavement management.  Register here.  The deadline is August 26th.

Participants in the Citizens Police Academy learn about Crime Scene Investigations, K-9 Patrol, Arrest Control Tactics, SWAT, Hands-on Driving, Criminal Investigations, DUI Enforcement, and Hands-on Police Scenarios.  The Academy begins on August 17th and lasts for 11 weeks.  Register here.  The deadline is August 8th.

Alternatively, you can learn a little bit about both Public Works and the Police Department, and a whole bunch of other things as well, by applying for the 2016/2017 Leadership Golden class.  Those applications are due by July 31st.
