9:30AM – A Rose By Any Other Name: The community is invited to join the Denver Rose Society for the annual rose pruning demonstration at the JCSO Rose Garden. 9:30AM at the Jeffco Sheriff’s Department Rose Garden, 200 Jefferson County Parkway (map).
2PM – Our Town: The final performance of Our Town takes place this afternoon at Miners Alley Playhouse.
2:30-4PM – The Library will host the Big Read Station Eleven Book Discussion. Using found objects, participants will explore line, texture, and technique to make their own paintings without picking up a brush! Presented by the Arvada Center for the Arts & Humanities.
4-7PM Mines Music Spring Concert – The Xi Chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity will hold a prize raffle at the end of the Mines Music Spring Concert to raise money for new instruments, feeding band members during football games and to purchase new lockers for instrument storage. All of the prizes given away were donated by local companies and organizations around Golden. This event started last year and raised $650 for the band program. The cost of a raffle ticket is $1 for one small prize ticket, $6 for 5 small prize tickets, or $2 for a large prize ticket. In the Ford Building, 6th and 19th Street.
4:30-7:30PM – Singing Peace at Calvary Episcopal Church: Join us for this beautiful concert in which we share “music’s fierce compassion” with audiences through works such as Carl Jenkin’s choral suite “The Armed Man” , Kim Andre Arneson’s “Flight Song”, and more. Dancers from the Colorado Ballet’s Thomas Dance Project and instrumentalists will join the Evergreen Chorale for this event promoting Peace through Song.
