In rummaging through old Golden Transcript articles, I came across one from October 12, 1972 that really surprised me. The article listed building permits that had been issued between September 12 and October 3rd of that year. Check out all these addresses: 17481 W. 16th Ave. (3-story, 23 units apartment bldg), 1821 Mt. Zion Dr., 1840 Mt. Zion Dr., 1844 Mt. Zion Dr., 508 Washington Ave., 512-514 Washington Ave. (3 unit, two story), 212 and 235 Pike St., 1936 Sage Circle, 607 Texas St., 708 Cheyenne St., 108 East St., 16817 W. 16th Pl (2-story, 4-unit). That was less than one month! I guess 1972 was a high-growth time in Golden.
