Rain is always welcome in this semi-arid climate, but it does sometimes complicate our social lives. Golden City Brewery has postponed today’s Summer Solstice fundraiser until July 20th. Last night’s carriage rides were canceled–we’ll see whether they can proceed tonight. I’ll post the decision on the Goldentoday Facebook page. Jeffco Open Space’s hike on North Table Mountain has also been canceled.
The Golden Farmers Market will take place this morning, rain or shine. They’ll be at 10th Street and Illinois from 8AM-1PM. The Quilt Museum will be there on behalf of the Golden Cultural Alliance and Golden Real Estate will be the featured Chamber business.
Indoor Events:
Somewhat counter-intuitively, this morning’s “Introduction to Hiking Safely” is an indoor event with the Golden Fire Dept and the Colorado Mountain Club. There are no tickets left, but you can check for cancellations at the Fire Station, 911 10th Street, at 11AM.
The Library offers Family Time from 10:15-10:45 this morning. Everyone is invited for stories, singing, rhyming and dancing.
The School of Mines Geology Museum is holding a sale on surplus microscopes today from 12-3PM.
Natural Grocers is offering a free class from 3-3:30 on Cooking with the Power of Lutein, which promotes eye, brain, and skin health.

Mountain Toad Brewing is offering tie-dying and live music to benefit Pancreatic Cancer Research from noon til 9PM. The $40 cost includes a shirt and a koozie to tie-dye, plus a free beer or kombucha, $1 off each subsequent beer, and 5 drawing tickets.

Golden Weekends – There will be live music on Washington Avenue from 5-8PM, and free carriage rides from 6-8PM. Tonight’s performers are Jim Hecker and Britta K, sponsored by The Clothesmine and Truly BoHotique. The carriage rides will be sponsored by Avenue Gifts.
