I was driving down North Ford Street yesterday afternoon, when the sun was at just the right angle to really highlight the old scar from the funicular railway. For a few years in the 19-teens, Golden had two of these railroads. One went up Lookout Mountain and the other other traveled up South Table Mountain to Castle Rock.

The Downtown Merchants are scheduled to meet tomorrow morning at 7:30 at Connects Workspace in the Armory Building.
The Railroad Museum will host their monthly Director’s Storytime and Craft at 10AM Tuesday morning. Join fellow young train enthusiasts, in collaboration with the Golden Public Library, for a morning of rail stories and make-and-take crafts. Recommended ages 4-6 years old. Free for Museum Members and $2 for nonmembers with general admission. This month they’re reading The Polar Express!
This is the last week to see the Christmas plays at Miners Alley. The children’s show, The Story of the Nutcracker, will be performed every day, Monday through Saturday at 11AM, with an extra show Saturday at 1PM. A Christmas Carol will play at 7:30PM Tuesday through Saturday. The two final performances of A Christmas Carol will be Sunday at 1 and 6PM.
