Public Art and Volcanoes at the Geology Museum

First Thursday Lectures at the Geology Museum - Golden CO

The Public Art Commission will meet this morning at 9AM in City Council Chambers. They will discuss their strategic plan, which includes funding one major new project each year, partnering with Golden High School, and selecting a spot to put a rotating (changing) art display. See the meeting packet for more information.

The Friends of the Colorado School of Mines Geology Museum’s First Thursday lecture series for fall begins tonight on an explosive note! The talk will be “Huge Explosive Eruptions: Their Nature and Effects“, by Dr. Thomas Casadevall, Scientist Emeritus, U.S. Geological Survey.  Socializing and munchies begin at 6:30 p.m. The “First Thursday” lecture will start at 7:00 p.m.   The talk will be on the Mines campus in GRL 201, the large conference room directly across the hall from the CSM Geology Museum.
