2-4PM Sunday at the Quilt Museum – The Quilt Museum’s popular monthly series, Sunday at the Quilt Museum, happens this afternoon. Join us in welcoming Michael Gold as he shares his life story and how quilting has affected his life.
Michael Gold has a need to express himself in a number of ways. Ever since his adolescent years he has achieved this through the arts. This was fine-tuned in college with a Bachelor of Arts major in Music Theatre and a minor in Costume Design. Skills were developed along the way that eventually led to a mixed media artist specializing in performance, teaching, directing, choreographing, interior design, fashion design, hand-beading, woodworking, oils, quilts and mosaic.
THREADS OF MY LIFE is a look at his life and the many threads it took to put it together. One medium crossed over another and another, weaving a mixed media of art. Quilting was a medium explored in 1987. Michael studied with Rosemary Angelos and fell in love with hand-piecing and hand-quilting. With over three decades of quilt experience, Michael has explored his quilting by combining and incorporating them in ways never imagined or purposed. His quilts have become stories, therapies and art.
