Visit the Golden Fire Department today from 10am-2pm for Safety & Preparedness Day. The community is invited to attend the sixth annual Safety and Preparedness Day, hosted by the Golden Fire Department and University of Colorado Burn Center.
The event is free, and the entire family is encouraged to attend. People can take advantage of a car seat check station, live fire demonstration, face painting, and tours of fire trucks and ambulances. Refreshments will be available, and prizes will be given away.

Dinosaur Ridge is holding a Dinosaur Discovery Day from 10-2. Today’s theme is Geohazards and Preparedness. Enjoy free hands-on activities, including gold panning, fossil sifting, metal detecting and dinosaur track painting at the Visitor Center. Sluice mining and geode cracking will be available for a fee. FODR geologists and visiting experts will man booths about earthquakes and faulting, volcanic eruptions and volcanic ash, landslides and rockfalls, radiation, floods, swelling soils, wildfires, and other hazards. Denver Firefighters Museum and West Metro will participate. Ready Colorado, Metro Volunteers and Radio Disney will offer expertise on preparedness as part of FEMA’s National Preparedness Month. On the trail, guides will explain the geology and fossils along Dinosaur Ridge. Biking or hiking the trail is free or take the shuttle for $4 per person, 3 & under ride free.
