Twenty-five years ago, Golden set up an Urban Renewal Authority to revive the historic downtown. The results have been spectacular, and that project is now nearing its end. The city is currently considering other districts that might benefit from a similar urban renewal effort. A study of Colfax Avenue between 6th Avenue and I-70 has been conducted to see whether that area would qualify as an urban renewal district and would benefit from it.
There will be a meeting tonight at 6:30 in City Council Chambers to review the findings of the study, and to see proposed changes that might be made to Colfax if an urban renewal district is created.
