How cool is this? The Horse Protection League is hosting its first ever day camp for kids! Pony Pals is for kids ages 5 – 9 who want to spend time with our horses. They will practice being safe on the ground with horses, leading, and grooming. We will also have horse crafts and games. This camp is for beginners (not suitable for kids with significant horse experience). The Horse Protection League is located on the historic Churches Ranch, just 3 miles north of Golden. Pony Pals Day Camp will take place from 9:30-2:30 on June 13th. Download the event flyer to learn more.
Tomorrow, Golden High School students and the neighbors across the street from the school will plant a garden together. After the Kinney run project a couple years ago, the City re-landscaped the area along the waterway, but one patch of ground along 24th Street went to weeds. The neighbors and students discussed the patch and decided they wanted to plant a garden there–one that uses the school colors, maroon and white! They contacted the Urban Drainage and Flood Control district, and they offered to donate the plants. Tomorrow, they will take delivery of a maple tree, several flowering shrubs, ornamental grasses, and perennial flowers.
You are welcome to join the planting party! Drop by any time from late morning to mid-afternoon. The plants will arrive at about noon, but if you come earlier you can help prepare the soil, dig the holes, etc. Bring gardening tools if you like, or share the ones on site Again, the garden is on 24th Street across from the High School (map).
