Last summer, I wrote about the Under the M Farm in the Beverly Heights neighborhood. This is a backyard micro farm run by Tammy Brislin, who is a Master Gardener. In 2016, she converted 2200 sq. ft. of lawn to irrigated planting beds. In 2017, she installed a greenhouse. In 2018 she opened a neighborhood farmers market, where she and neighbors could sell their produce on Sunday mornings. Now she’s competing for a grant, which she would use to improve her infrastructure and increase her planting area. You can help! Visit this page to read her request and cast your vote to support her application. Just enter your email address and click the orange button that says “Vote.” The site will send a confirmation email to verify your vote, and you must click that link too. I admire what she’s doing, and I hope she gets the grant!

The Mobility and Transportation Advisory Board will meet tonight at 6PM in City Council Chambers. They will discuss their School Zones Manual, School Walking/Biking Maps, their work plan for 2019, and receive an update on their Crosswalk Manual. They will be accepting public comment at the beginning of the meeting. If you have any comments or concerns about traffic or street design in Golden, this is the group to talk to.
Are you interested in serving on one of Golden’s boards or commissions? It’s time to apply! We will also have City Council elections this fall. Mayor Sloan and Councilor Charis-Graves are both term limited, and Councilor Brown will be up for reelection (if he chooses to run again). Start thinking about whether you might want to run for City Council.
