The Jefferson County Extension Service will celebrate Colorado Pollinator Month tomorrow, Saturday June 24th, with Save Our Pollinators Day. Visit the Courage Garden at the Jefferson County Courthouse, 100 Jefferson Parkway, between 9AM and 3PM. You will LEARN – About native plants & native Pollinators; How to Make a Habitat Hero Garden; What to plant for pollinators & why; What foods bees are responsible for, and What bats do | SEE – Breakfast without Bees; The Bees Waggle lady; A working bee hive; Jeffco High School Pollinator Art Show; and How to build a butterfly garden | MAKE – Butterflies and bees; An insect puddle; A mason bee habitat; A hummingbird feeder.
A Meetup Group called Up A Mountain, Down a Beer is meeting at Chimney Gulch Trail at Windy Saddle Park tomorrow morning at 8, and you’re invited. Hey everyone, come join us for the first hike of the season! This trail is described as Medium to Difficult and is approximately 5-6 miles RT, and the elevation gain is approximately 1,100 ft. We will begin at the Chimney Gulch trail-head and continue up to Buffalo Bill’s Grave/ Lookout Mountain Park. Afterwards, we’ll plan on heading to New Terrain Brewing Co. Golden for a well-earned beer! Up a Mountain, Down a Beer is a Colorado meetup group focused on the outdoors. The meetups vary from trail hiking, to ultimate Frisbee, to Red Rocks workouts and summer events there.
