Each year the City offers citizens a limited number of low water use trees. This year, they have Hedge Maple, Bigtooth Maple, ‘Hot Wings’ Tatarian Maple, American Yellowwood, Chanticleer Pear, Northern Catalpa, ‘Ivory Silk’ Tree Lilac, Bur Oak, English Oak, and Columnar English Oak.
All of the available trees, with the exception of the Hedge maple, cost $55 (plus tax), have approximately 1” diameter trunks, are 6’-9’ tall and have either air-pruned container root balls or are balled-in-burlap. The hedge maple is in a slightly larger container and costs $80.
Quantities are quite limited (52 trees total) and customers may order no more than 5 trees. Purchases may be made at the Golden Community Center and will be sold through April 15, or while supplies last. Proof of residency is required. Trees purchased will be distributed during the last 2 weeks of April. Learn more, see pictures of the species, and get an order form on the City website.
