Pirate Cruise, MTAB, Ukuleles, Bingo, and Things of That Nature

6PM The Golden Bike Cruise starts in the lot west of the Golden Library (10th & Illinois). Bob’s Atomic Burgers will be flipping burgers and New Terrain Brewing will be pouring beer. Half Pint and the Growlers will provide the music. The ride will start at 7PM and the prize drawings will occur afterwards, once the group returns to the parking lot. Tonight’s (optional) costume theme is PIRATES.

6PM The Mobility and Transportation Advisory Board (MTAB) will meet tonight in City Council Chambers. They will start with Public Comment, so if you have anything to say to this group, please arrive at 6PM. After Public Comment, they will adjourn to a study session. They will discuss City Council’s recent comments about the nascent crosswalk manual. Crosswalks encourage people to walk, by decreasing the likelihood that they’ll be squashed by a car while trying to dart across a street.

They will also discuss the redesign of 8th Street, which will soon need to accommodate the additional traffic from a 72-unit apartment complex and a 48-room hotel. These changes to 8th Street will cost about $500K. They are planning to do a count of pedestrian and bicycle traffic, and will discuss where they should take those counts. They will discuss the Colfax Complete Streets project (which means Colfax will include bike lanes and sidewalks as well as car lanes). They will discuss the US 6 and Heritage Road project. The city would like to do an underpass, similar to the one at US 6 and 19th Street. They don’t yet have funding to build it, but they want the design work to be ready when funding does come along.
