Photos, lectures, classes, and junk

Dave Powers got some nice photos of yesterday’s Visitors Center reception to celebrate Carol Ann Bowles’ retirement.  The turn-out was a real who’s-who of Golden!  The photos are on our facebook page.

There are a few tickets left for Saturday’s lecture at the Astor House: Buffalo Bill, The Great Entertainer.  Learn about one of the greatest showmen of all time: Buffalo Bill Cody. For millions of people all over the world, this larger-than-life figure was able to create an image of what the “Wild West” was really like. Follow Bill from humble beginnings to wealth and glory, to ultimate poverty and his burial on Lookout Mountain above Golden.  Learn more on the History Museum’s website.

OLLI West starts their spring session next week, and most of the classes still have some openings.  If you’re 50 or older, you’re eligible to learn things ranging from short fiction writing to theoretical physics.  A single $100 membership fee entitles you to take as many classes as you like.  Check the options.

The Jeffco Action Center will hold their semi-annual Beautiful Junk Sale tomorrow and Saturday from 8-4 at the Jeffco Fairgrounds.  General admission is $3, but if you bring two or more non-perishable food items, you’ll receive $1 off admission.  Most items are less than $10, and 100% of the proceeds go toward food, shelter and vital services to those in need.
