Last Night
At last night’s City Council meeting, Calvary Church asked to delay the hearing about closing Arapahoe St. They’re still working out their parking plans. They intend to bring it to council again in March.
Also at Council, Marcie Miller announced that, while the numbers aren’t final yet, Golden’s non-profit organizations collected more than $200,000 on Colorado Gives Day! That includes museums, PTAs, people feeding hungry children, trail-building organizations, and many others!
Tonight
Golden High School’s holiday concert takes place tonight at 7 in the auditorium (701 24th Street – map).
Windy Saddle Cafe has live music tonight, starting at 7, and a cupcake walk for kids aged 2-10.
Tomorrow
Tomorrow’s parade will start at 11 and will run along Washington Avenue from 10th to 13th Street. The participating organizations change every week, so even if you went last week–go again!
Grateful Bread Bakery is hosting a book signing & live radio show tomorrow. Pat Miller a.k.a The Gabby Gourmet will be at the bakery to sign copies of her newly published annual restaurant guide from 11-12:30. Her radio show on 630 KHOW-AM will air LIVE from Grateful Bread from 1 – 3 pm. Get some breads & pastries at the retail store and get a signed copy of Gabby’s new book. (425 Violet Street – map)
The Victorian Carolers will be downtown from 11-1, and Newfoundland Dog Cart Rides will be available from 12-3. The rides take place in the parking lot at 12th and Arapahoe.
Baby Doe’s Clothing is running a sale on the book, Olde Golden Christmas, tomorrow. It’s normally $19.95 and will be 35% off ($12.95) for one day only! Barb Warden will be in the store, signing copies, from 11:30-2. Copies of her other book, Funiculars of Golden Colorado, will also be available for sale and signing.
The Golden Hayride will give rides after the parade, from 12-1. The cost is $5 per person, but kids 5 and under are free. Board on 12th Street, by the Olde Capitol Grill.
Foothills Art Center is hosting a Holiday Sweater Party from 12:30-2:30. Bring your own sweater or sweatshirt, and they’ll provide materials to help decorate it. $5 per person.
Finally, don’t forget the Miners Alley Children’s Theater production, The Story of the Nutcracker. They’ll be performing at 1 o’clock Saturday.
