GOLDEN CHAMBER CALL FOR HELP WITH SATURDAY’S PARADE
Bursting with Colorado charm and holiday spirit, Olde Golden’s Holiday Parade is this Saturday, December 9, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. The parade route runs along Washington Avenue from 10th Street to 13th Street through historic downtown with marching bands, floats, horses, carolers, elves and of course, Santa! We could use your help and need at least six additional volunteers to help make the parade a safe and fun experience for everyone this year. Please sign up to volunteer HERE.

They are also budgeting $20,000 for art to be installed on the Clear Creek/Grant Terry Trail (map). That piece will be chosen by members of the Golden Parks Department, the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, and the Public Art Commission.
They will also discuss future art for Ulysses Park. See the meeting packet for more information.

GOLDEN HISTORY MOMENT
The December 7, 1961 Colorado Transcript showed a new sign being installed at Foss Drug. The sign was made of porcelain enameled steel, which would never need to be painted. It was illuminated by internal florescent lights.
Another significant change downtown received much smaller notice in that same issue: “Leo Stillman is the new owner-operator of the Ace Hi Tavern.” The Stillman family, now in its third generation, still owns the Ace Hi!
Thanks to the Golden History Museum for providing the online cache of historic Transcripts, and to the Golden Transcript for documenting our history since 1866!
