We’ll provide the space; you provide the talent! All skill levels welcome. Content should remain appropriate for all ages. Sign up starts at 5:45PM and performances at 6:00PM.

Jefferson County Housing Authority Project Planned for 24th Street, between Ford and Jackson

The Golden Urban Renewal Authority (GURA) will meet tonight at 6:30 in City Council Chambers. One of their goals is to include Workforce Housing in all of their Urban Renewal areas (8th Street, Colfax, and the Central Neighborhoods near Natural Grocers). Staff has been looking at other cities in Colorado to see how they create affordable housing. They will bring their ideas to tonight’s meeting.

In related news, the proposed low-income housing project at 24th and Jackson will apply again for federal funding. They have reduced the number of apartments from 51 to (I think) 44, so they can accommodate parking on their own property, rather than trying to use the High School’s parking lot. As mentioned in a recent Planning Commission meeting, some of their residents will now use diagonal parking that backs out onto Jackson Street (or if it’s back-in parking, then they’ll have to back in off of Jackson Street). In a recent Planning Commission meeting, the Planning Manager said that the revised project did not need to come before the Planning Commission for approval. Some Commissioners said it should. I’m not sure how they’ll resolve that difference of opinion. See the meeting packet for more information.

But Wait! There’s More!
