Once in a Hundred Years

Buffalo Bill's Grave - Golden Colorado

Although he passed away on January 10th, 1917, Cody was not laid to rest until June 3rd of that year.  At noon today, join the Buffalo Bill Museum and hundreds of well-wishers for this solemn yet exciting event as members of the Colorado Masonic community re-create the formal ceremony as it was performed 100 years ago.

Then from 1-4PM enjoy musical tributes to Buffalo Bill by singer/songwriter Jim Salestrom, cowgirl poet Susie Knight and music historian Rex Rideout.  Buffalo Bill and Annie Oakley re-enactors will also be on hand for demonstrations & presentations.  Should be a lot of fun!

The is opening day for the Golden Farmers Market.  Visit 10th & Illinois between 8AM and 1PM for produce, baked goods, and prepared foods.

Golden will be teeming with classic cars today.  Golden Pond Retirement Community at 1270 North Ford Street is hosting their 10th annual Classic Car Show from 11AM-2PM.  The public is welcome, and invited to vote on the best cars.  The Golden Super Cruise will be taking place along South Golden Road from 5-8:30PM.

Golden High School (map) is hosting a Community Bike Swap today from 10AM-3PM.  Bring a bike if you want to sell or donate it, or come prepared to buy one!  Any donated bikes or gear left at the end of the day will be given to the Golden Optimists bike program.

I love the model railways at the Railroad Museum!  The Denver Garden Railway Society will be hosting a two day steam up featuring only live steam operations in the garden railway from 9AM-4PM today and tomorrow.
