Last night’s National Night Out in Parfet Park was delightful–very low key, lots of locals, free hot dogs, root beer floats, snow cones…and a helicopter! See the photos.
This is an election year for some of the City Council positions, including the Mayor and both districts (Marcie Miller and Saoirsa Charis-Graves). Marcie has announced that she will not run again for her District 2 position. Mayor Sloan and Councilor Charis-Graves are planning to run for re-election.
One of the District 2 candidates, Lauree Valverde, is holding a campaign kick-off party at Cannonball Creek from 6-8. We will announce other election events as we hear about them!
If you’re thinking of running for City Council, check out the City Clerk’s page describing how to do it.
Planning Commission meets tonight at 6:30 in City Council chambers. They will hold a public hearing on a proposed change to the process for vacating streets. The change is designed to make the review process more rigorous. FYI, “vacating” a street means the city is agreeing to give it up as a public street. See the meeting packet for the details.
The Public Arts Commission meets tomorrow morning at 9. They will decide on a vendor to develop some medallions to be embedded in the sidewalk between the library and Clear Creek. They will discuss a possible art installation at the entrance to the Heritage Dells neighborhood. They will consider a first draft of an RFP for a major new piece to be placed in the roundabout at South Golden Road and Ulysses. See the meeting packet for the details.
