New $800,000 skateboard park at Ulysses

Washington Avenue downtown will be blocked off for a MOPAR street party from mid-afternoon till 10PM.

City Council meets tonight at 6:30 in City Council Chambers.  The meeting will be broadcast live on cable channel 8 and through the City’s website.

Council will be asked to approve an $800,000 contract to rebuild the skateboard park at Ulysses Park.  The CEO of the USA Pro Challenge, which will be in Golden on August 23rd, will give a “marketing presentation.”  The Finance Director will give his quarterly budget update (spoiler: we’re in good shape).  There will be a public hearing regarding the planned interchange at Highway 6 & 19th Street.  They will vote to approve the new waste and recycling contract, which goes into effect at the end of August.  They will vote on whether to increase rates for waste & recycling by 7%.  They will vote on whether to give the departing City Manager a $4,000 bonus.  As always, see the meeting packet on the City website for details on any of these issues.

This will be City Manager Mike Bestor’s final City Council meeting, as he retires next week, after 22 years.
