RETRACTION
Yesterday I had a picture of an old-fashioned parking meter in this space. I intended it to be a cute graphic to indicate a discussion about paid parking. Both City Council and City Staff contacted me about that image, because they do NOT plan to use parking meters, and they didn’t want people to get the impression that we will have them. If we DO wind up with some paid parking downtown, payments will be made at kiosks, or possibly via smartphone app. NO PARKING METERS.
GOOD NEWS FOR CHARITY CRAFTERS!
The Craft Box will be holding a Charity Give Away tomorrow (Saturday, June 18th). If you’re part of a charity crafting group, please come by the store from 11:00 to 2:00 and take items that you can use. They have lots of craft materials available, including fabric, yarn, and books/patterns. They are hoping this is successful in putting items into the hands that can use them! The Golden Gate Grange is having a History Night tonight, from 7-8:30. Join us for an educational and entertaining evening of stories and history of the Golden Gate Canyon area. Long time residents, our canyon historian, Mary Ramstetter, and decendents of canyon homesteaders will share stories of yesteryear. Bring your stories to add to the oral history. District 2 Councilor Casey Brown is having Coffee with a Councilor tomorrow morning from 10-11 in City Council Chambers. This is a great opportunity to bring up issues concerning you that are happening in Golden and the north neighborhoods in particular. Open to everyone!

GOLD RUSH TOUR
The History Center is offering a walking tour tomorrow morning (Saturday the 18th) from 10:30-12:30. Experience the stories of Old West pioneers Rufus Sage and George Jackson. Learn the importance of Golden as the gateway to the gold mines in the mountains. Visit historic sites along Clear Creek as well as historic buildings in downtown Golden with historian and storyteller Ed Weising. Members $10; non-members $15. Walking tours leave from the Golden History Center.
