Tomorrow (Tuesday) night, the public is invited to the American Alpine Club Library  for John M. Boyle’s presentation, “Mt. Everest: Why did it get this name?” which details George Everest’s appointment as Superintendent of the Great Trigonometrical Survey of India from 1823 until 1843 and the Survey’s continuation after Everest’s retirement.

A reception and behind-the-scenes tour of the library will begin at 5, and the presentation will begin at 6 in Conference Room A.  This event is sponsored by the Rocky Mountain Map Society.

The American Alpine Club Library is located in the Mountaineering Center at 710 10th St.
