The Downtown Development Authority meets tonight at 6:30 in City Council Chambers. Their meeting packet is available online.
They will review suggestions received at the October 12th downtown open house. People had a lot of ideas for downtown, many of them conflicting. Suggestions included:
- providing grants to businesses for more tables & chairs on the sidewalk vs having fewer tables & chairs on the sidewalk;
- having fewer signs cluttering the sidewalk vs adding more signs to encourage business vitality;
- having fewer eateries and breweries vs having a public plaza with food trucks;
- adding statues representing skiers, hikers, and wildlife versus having more abstract art;
- developing the Foss lot and the block west of that lot, versus having space permanently open for public events;
- requiring new buildings to provide plentiful on-site parking;
- adding affordable workforce housing;
- Having more frequent trash and recycling pickup.
The Sustainability Board will meet on Wednesday night at 6:30 in City Council Chambers. They will be getting ready for SUSTAINABILITY NIGHT on November 30th.
