City Council approved the 120 day moratorium on new housing last night. Many members of the public expressed support for the moratorium, while one property owner expressed very reasonable concern about when he would be able to start a project that he had planned. Now we have a four month grace period to get our neighborhood plans and our municipal code to line up. We need to figure out how Golden can absorb reasonable levels of growth and redevelopment without destroying our small town charm or overshadowing our smaller, older houses.
We have a lot of work ahead of us! Congratulations to the citizens who worked to make this happen, and thanks to staff and council for agreeing to undertake this project.
