The Golden Urban Renewal Authority will meet in the GURA office (922 10th Street) tonight at 6:30. One of their topics will be a request to keep the lights on the trees downtown through March. Many of the merchants would like to keep the lights up year round, but the City Forester advises that doing so would be hard on the trees.
The Historic Preservation Board will meet at 7 in City Council Chambers (911 10th Street). Their topics will include proposed renovations to the historic cabin at 2200 Jackson (the last remnant of the Big Tree Mobile Home Park) and their 2012 Work Plan. Their meeting packet includes an interesting survey & history of the Welch Ditch, west of highway 6 (starts on p. 4)..
