Each year on Memorial Day, the Golden Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) posts the “Avenue of Flags” in the Golden Cemetery. In addition, a small flag is placed on the grave of every known veteran interred in the cemetery. It’s an excellent day to visit our cemetery, which is on the National Register of Historic Places. The VFW will conduct a flag ceremony at 11 AM and the flags will be up until dusk.
A Memorial Day ceremony will also be held at the Marine Corps Memorial at the intersection of Highways 6 and 40 at 2 PM.
