Meetings, Fly-Tying, and Music Tonight in Golden

First, let me apologize for a typo in yesterday’s write-up about the May 20th, 1948 Transcript. The write-up said it was 60 years ago when it should have said 70. Since I’m back on the subject of 1948, let me just add that a new 5-room modern frame home was $7875 and a new 5 room modern cinder block home in North Golden was available for $7,000. A 4 acre tract in Pleasant View, divided into one acre plots, was for sale for $550 per acre.

The Local Licensing Authority will meet at 2:30 this afternoon in City Council Chambers. Mountain Lux Candles (1111 Washington Ave.) has applied for a beer and wine license. Their hearing will be held on July 25th. Cafe 13 has requested approval for modifying the premises by adding an additional room. The Kum & Go at 18465 W Colfax has applied for a license to sell 3.2% beer.  Learn more….

The Sustainability Board will meet at 6 this evening in City Council Chambers. They have been working with the Planning Commission to make the “Green Menu” more stringent. The Green Menu specifies steps required for new construction or significant remodels to improve sustainability. The board is also looking at a new goals for waste diversion. They will discuss community needs for energy advisors, and will have an initial discussion of “Sustainable Neighborhoods.”  Learn more….

Jefferson County Open Space will present a program in their Land Stewardship Series: Coyote Country 2 from 6-7:30 this evening. Whether you are concerned or curious about coyotes, you’ll want to attend this talk highlighting recent findings on coyote biology, ecology and behavior as it impacts Jeffco residents.  Mary Ann Bonnell, JCOS Visitor Services Manager will be our speaker. She has been instrumental in promoting coyote awareness in our region. 700 Jefferson County Parkway (map).
