At this time of the year, competition runs high to get into the favorite summer camps. The Golden Community Center’s summer camp is open to kids aged 5-12 years. Golden residents get first crack at the spots for this camp, and acceptance is determined through a lottery. The lottery for residents will take place this Monday and Tuesday, March 7-8. The lottery for non-residents will be March 14-15. If you hope to enroll your child in this camp, make sure you submit your child’s emergency packet and immunization records ahead of time. Many families choose a variety of camps throughout the summer, and we have a great selection in Golden. The Golden History Museum teaches pioneer skills at their Hands On History camp. The Railroad Museum is offering a railroad-themed camp for the first time. The City offers several art camps, as does Foothills Art Center. The School of Mines has both sports and academic summer camps, and Miners Alley offers a theater camp. The CSU Extension offers an environmental camp.
Golden.com keeps a running list of camps for young people: golden.com/camps-and-classes. Whether you need summer-long daycare or just a week or two of enrichment to keep the kids from getting bored, you’re in luck.
