Golden Fire Department

6:30PM City Council will meet tonight in City Council Chambers. They will be accepting a big matching grant that will enable us to hire four full-time firefighters. Chief Welch submitted a Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) Grant request to the US Dept of Homeland Security. In response, Golden will receive $716,320 to beef up our staffing, the City will provide $445,280. The grant will extend over a 3-year period. They will hold a public hearing on Kong’s request to rezone their property to allow them to manufacture within their structure. Another public hearing concerns a decision to allow a company to lease storage capacity in our Guanella Reservoir. The final public hearing concerns the proposed Capital Improvement Plan for 2020. Finally, they will discuss three issues that will be on our ballots this fall and decide whether Council should take a position on them. See the meeting packet for more information about any of these issues.
