The M Climb for new Mines students takes place this morning. By tradition, new students are supposed to bring a 10 pound rock from their home town. They all carry them up to the M on Mount Zion and then they whitewash the M. Look for them on the M sometime mid-morning. Welcome, new Orediggers!

At 1PM, the Railroad Museum is offering their Friday Tour. This week they’re focusing on their William Henry Jackson exhibit. They have a big event planned for tomorrow and Sunday: the Dinosaur Express Train. (More about that tomorrow.)

The third night of Movies and Music in the Park takes place in Parfet Park this evening. Dustin Devine and the Real Deal will start playing at 7, and the movie (Spider-Man Into the Spiderverse) will begin at about 8:30. Bring a blanket or a lawn chair and event the event. The nearly-full moon will rise at 8:50, so you’ll get to watch it rise over Castle Rock as you watch the movie.

Tonight’s Golden Weekends Downtown music (5-8PM) is provided by Lucas Wolf (acoustic folk rock) and Britta K (pop covers, Disney hits). I’m sorry to say that there will be no carriage rides this weekend. There’s a virus making the rounds of Colorado horses and cattle. Wallace and Todd, the Clydesdales who give our carriage rides, are fine, but their ranch is under quarantine, so they need to stay put. The quarantine period should be over by next weekend, but the downtown streets will all be closed for a bike race, so no carriage rides next week either. Let’s hope for the 30th and 31st!
