The Planning Commission will meet tomorrow night (Weds 9/7) at 6:30 in City Council Chambers. They will be asked to approve plans for a 44 unit apartment complex for “mixed income” families. The project would be designed to serve families at or below 60% of the Area Median Income. This development will be located at the northwest corner of 24th and Ford Streets. The company planning to build it is called “Evergreen Real Estate Group.”
Last month, another group came to the Historic Preservation Board to ask permission to demolish a commercial structure at the southwest corner of 24th and Ford Streets. They plan to build a mixed use business and residential building on that block. That project will be coming before the Planning Commission some time this fall.
City Council will meet Thursday night. They will be asked to allow a Carmax dealer to build in the area east of Kohl’s. They will also vote on an amendment to the parking restrictions code.
Both meetings will be shown live through the city website. More details on the issues mentioned above are available in the meeting packets.
