The Golden Senior Santa program provides holiday gifts to local seniors experiencing health or financial challenges.
The program coordinates with a local senior apartment building and Seniors Resource Center to identify seniors who don’t have family nearby and would welcome some holiday cheer.
Gifts are collected through a combination of companies who promote it among employees and retail businesses who promote it to their customers.
Gift tags can be picked up at Launch Espresso, Windy Saddle Café or Connects Workspace. Gifts should be returned unwrapped with the tag. Another option is to shop on the Amazon Wish List at bit.ly/seniorsantagolden.

Golden History Moment
The Transcript sales staff had been busily selling advertisements for weeks before this November 29, 1928 Colorado Transcript went to press, and they reminded their readers why it was so important to shop locally.
Patronize Our Advertisers
Beginning with this issue The Transcript starts its advertising section for Christmas. It will run to and including Dec. the 20th. This paper has been carrying these advertisements, atthis time of the year, for a number of years. The fact that this year more advertising is carried than in former years, proves that our merchants appreciate the patronage given them by the people of this vicinity. Our advertisers have all this year vied with one another to give the public worth while merchandise at the lowest possible cost.
Colorado Transcript – November 29, 1928
Indeed, the ads were full of helpful suggestions. Need a gift for a man? Hertel’s had the most complete array of neckties they had ever had, priced from $1 to $2! A woman? Clyde Gregory Jewelry had Moorish-style leather purses and handbags from $5.25 to $22. Linder Hardware promised things for everybody’s gift list–Mother, Father, and the children.
If you want a nice, new outfit for the holidays, City Tailor Shop would make you a custom suit.
What if you’re feeling short of cash? Most of the stores gave credit at that time, but an even better approach would be to join Rubey Bank’s 1929 Christmas Club now. If you contribute 25 cents per week all year, you’d receive a check for $12.75 next December, just in time for Christmas shopping.
We cannot urge too strongly upon our readers the wisdom of visiting these stores and talking to the merchants before buying elsewhere. It will pay you to do so.
Thanks to the Golden History Museum for providing the online cache of historic Transcripts, and to the Golden Transcript for documenting our history since 1866!
