Light Rail, Fresh Water, and Beautiful Junk

Yesterday’s post mentioned today’s ribbon-cutting at the new CoorsTek building on the CSM campus.  Mines contacted me and asked me to let you know that this event is open only to Mines students, faculty, staff, and alumni.

Don’t forget tonight’s RTD Public Meeting at the Community Center. Please come to ask the board and staff to NOT reduce the level of light rail service to Golden.

There will be a Walk for Freshwater this Saturday from 3-5PM at Golden High School.  Can you imagine getting up early in the morning to fetch water for your family from a dirty stream, then walking miles and miles home with a heavy bucket, and then having to go to school? In Malawi, Africa, this is the reality for millions of students.  Participate in or donate to this Saturday’s walk at Golden High School!

The Jeffco Action Center‘s semi-annual Beautiful Junk Sale will be held this Friday and Saturday (September 29th & 30th) at the Jeffco Fairgrounds. All proceeds from this event support the Action Center’s mission of providing an immediate response to basic human needs and promoting pathways to self-sufficiency for Jefferson County residents and the homeless.

The sale offers 10,500 square feet of  jewelry, collectibles, vintage odds and ends, a vast array of household items, sporting goods, holiday decor, kitchen gadgets and MUCH more! General admission is $4 for everyone 16 and older. Bring two or more non-perishable food donations and receive $1 off of admission! Regular hours are Friday 8:30-7 and Saturday 8-4.  The Early Bird Sale will take place Friday morning at 7am, tickets are $30 and shoppers will get in FREE on Saturday!  The Jefferson County Fairgrounds is located at 15200 W. 6th Avenue (map).
