Those 50 and older can sign up for spring classes through OLLI (the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute). They will hold an open house and registration on Monday February 11th from 1-3 PM. The Open House will be held at the Jefferson Unitarian Church, 14350 West 32nd Avenue in Golden. For more information please visit http://portfolio.du.edu/olliwest or call 720-203-6458. Classes begin March 25th. See the catalog for the list of spring offerings.
There will be a benefit concert (also at the Unitarian Church) to support the OLLI program tomorrow night at 7PM. Dr. Susan Cable, Professor Emeritus at Metropolitan State University, will present, on a Steinway piano, music by Mozart, Chopin, Rachmaninoff, Debussy and contemporary classical Chinese composer, Tan Dun. Samuel Lancaster, former pianist with the Colorado Symphony and a raconteur beyond measure, will provide commentary, sharing behind-the-scenes information about the composers and compositions that even their mothers didn’t know. This elegant evening will also feature fine coffee, European gourmet desserts and a silent auction featuring works from OLLI artists. The event is open to the public, and the cost is $40.
