Want to learn more about how the City operates? Consider joining either the Citizens’ Public Works Academy (Aug 28-Oct 24) or the Citizens’ Police Academy (Aug 28 – Nov 13). Both of these programs get rave reviews from the participants every year, so if you have time this fall, consider joining!

5-7PM Golden Chamber Members and their guests are invited to VIBE@FIVE, held tonight at Indulge Bistro & Wine Bar (map). Stop in for a quick hello and a refreshment right after work and a chance to get to know fellow members of the Golden Chamber of Commerce and Golden Young Professionals. This is a great networking and socializing event.

6:30PM Golden Beer Talks takes place in the Buffalo Rose Events Center. Doors open at 6, the talk starts at 6:30. The featured brewery is Over Yonder Brewing and tonight’s speaker is Woody Tasch, founder of Slow Money. Learn more….

6:30PM The Economic Development Commission (EDComm) will meet tonight at 6:30 in City Council Chambers. They will discuss providing sponsorships to two conferences this fall: Colorado Cleantech Awards (October 16th) and the Colorado Capital Conference (November 13th). Both will be held at the Buffalo Rose. They will also discuss Jeffco Business Resource Center events; the new business awareness program; entrepreneurship mentoring, plans to develop a volunteer database and hold a nonprofit expo, and a Women Who Startup Basecamp. Tomorrow is the first day of school for Jefferson County Public Schoolkids.

10AM-4PM As a precursor to this weekend’s Quilter’s Treasures Garage Sale at the Quilt Museum, the museum will hold an Early Worm Book Sale on Wednesday from 10AM-4PM. They received an unprecedented number of book donations this year, so if you’re into quilting books, make sure you get there tomorrow for a huge selection!
