Leadership Golden is now accepting applications for their 2015-2016 class. This is a great program, and it’s free. The program, which has been running for more than 25 years now, provides 11 classes between September and May. Participants learn so much about the Golden community, including city facilities, Golden history, city government, public finance, growth & development, education, higher learning, arts & recreation, justice, participating in the community, and an experience in governing (class descriptions). A significant portion of City Council and the advisory boards & commissions have taken this class. If you’re interested in getting more involved in the Golden community, this is a good way to get started. Complete an application on the Leadership Golden website.
The Parks & Recreation board meets tonight at 7 at the Golden Community Center. Their topics will include choosing a contractor to design and build the new skate park at Ulysses, and the possibility of a dog park at Beverly Heights. See the full agenda on the city website. This meeting is not broadcast live; the recording will be posted later.
