This is the weekend that we celebrate Buffalo Bill’s birthday.
The Buffalo Rose will host “The greatest Western history event in all the land. Living history performers from all over the country will compete for thousands of dollars in cash and prizes. Catagories: Buffalo Bill; Old West Male; Olde West Female; and Military Male. ‘Only the Best attend this event.'” This party runs from 11am-5pm. The admission charge is $10.
At the Rock Rest Lodge, “the old stage stop and brothel will be full of wild west reenactors in authentic outfits reminding us that Golden is where the West lives. There will be free birthday cake, musical entertainment by Timothy P. and John Chandler with three well known western authors, Reid Lance Rosenthal, Nancy Oswald, and Linda Wommack there selling and signing their books. There’s no admission charge and they will be giving away free raffle tickets for door prizes as well.” (Quoting the Avenue Flashes column from The Golden Transcript.)
Tomorrow, the Buffalo Bill Museum & Grave will throw their annual birthday celebration from 12-4.
In case you’re looking for a non-Bill event, the Colorado Chamber Players will perform this evening at 7:30 at Foothills Art Center.
