Investing in Paradise and More Halloween Fun

Clear Creek in Autumn - Golden Colorado

The Golden Investment Forum Task Force will meet at 6PM in City Council Chambers. This group was charged with collecting all of the projects on the community wish list and trying to prioritize which we wanted most.  They began by surveying the community, using both paper surveys and two versions of an online survey on guidinggolden.com.

The surveys showed that what the community wanted (open space, cultural facilities, and park improvements) wasn’t necessarily what City Council thought we needed (road improvements, municipal broadband, and affordable housing).  Council concluded that they weren’t going to make spending decisions based on the Task Force’s surveys–that they had been elected to make decisions, so they would make them.  They asked the Task Force to turn their attention away from prioritizing and toward refining the project descriptions.

City staff is developing descriptions of many of the proposed major expenditures, including projected costs, likely source of the funds, and how the expenditures would support the Golden Vision Plan. Tonight, the task force members will review and comment on the descriptions.  You should review the project descriptions and see what you think.  To do that, go to the Meetings page on the city website, and click the word “agenda” on the Golden Investment Forum Task Force line.
