Don’t forget the free, indoors Western Heritage Show at 10AM and 1Pm at the Jeffco Fairgrounds…courtesy of Golden’s own Westernaires!

The Library is hosting a Sound Effects Lab from 2-4PM this afternoon. Registration not required, but there is a limit of 30 people–so I guess, get there early.  And the Oscar for best sound effects in a motion picture goes to – you! Explore how sound effects are created with everyday items, then add them into a short video clip. Create a creepy experience watching cute bunnies or maybe make a battle scene comical with the addition of unique sound effects.

The Library is also hosting their monthly Ukulele Wednesdays tonight from 6-7:30PM. Got a Ukulele? Know a few chords or songs? Jam with us and other ukulele enthusiasts the last Wednesday of each month. These are not lessons, just a chance to play with others. Suitable for: Ages 13+

The Local Licensing Authority meets at 2:30PM today in City Council Chambers. Colorado Plus Cider & Pub is requesting permission to add a fenced-in patio. Cafe 13 has changed ownership, so they’re requesting a transfer of their liquor license. Mountain Lux Candles has requested a beer & wine license. Launch (18455 W. Colfax) has applied for a new hotel & restaurant liquor license, as has Origin Red Rocks Hotel (18485 W. Colfax). A new downtown restaurant at 701 12th Street, called Tributary Food Hall, has also applied for a Hotel & Restaurant License.  Learn more by reviewing the meeting packet….

The Sustainability Board meets at 6PM in City Council Chambers. They will hear from a consultant who is helping them with a community engagement strategy. They want to collect feedback about our sustainability goals. As part of that process, they will hold a community forum on September 17th at the Mountaineering Center. The board will also review the City’s energy goals and recap progress made to date. They will work on a strategy to provide energy advice to residents & businesses.  Learn more by reviewing the meeting packet….
