The Local Licensing Authority meets today at 2:30 in City Council Chambers. New Panda Chinese Restaurant has applied to renew their liquor license. Golden Village Liquors wants to transfer their liquor license to a new owner.
The Sustainability Board meets tonight at 6:30 in City Council Chambers. They will review board’s duties and discuss “Sustainability in All Actions…” (not sure what that means). The Board will select two members to participate in the “Mobility Hub task force” (the bus stops in Parfet Park).
City Council will meet tomorrow night at 6:30 in City Council Chambers. They will have a guest speaker–Will Toor, former Boulder Mayor and Boulder County Commissioner. He will be discussing funding options to build the infrastructure for alternative (non-car) transportation–bike lanes, trains, buses, improved sidewalks. The Finance Director will report on the City’s financial condition (we’re still rich).
City Staff will ask Council to approve the wildly complicated plans for the paid parking that will go into effect on January 1st. If I read the parking memo correctly, we will no longer be able to use the parking lots between the stores and Arapahoe without registering with a pay station or by phone. (From the memo: “In other words, there will not be the opportunity to just park your car and run into a business for a brief errand without registering the visit. “) You will be able to park on the street for up to two hours for free, but you can’t move the car to a new spot and start a new two hours. The developer of the new building at 13th and Jackson feels that the tenants in that building shouldn’t have to pay annual parking fees, and they should have private, designated parking spaces in the garages. The owners of the Ace Hi have pointed out that they offer some of the few affordable apartments downtown, and asked that their tenants be charged lower parking fees, in order to keep the apartments affordable.
They will conclude the parking discussion by approving the purchase of parking pay stations for $76,768. We will also need a new full-time parking enforcement employee in addition to the half-time person who does parking enforcement now.
The City Manager will present his proposed operating budget for 2017-2018. The 2017 budget calls for $28,900,339 in total expenditures (versus $25,465,370 for 2016).
At 6PM tonight, the Golden Library will present Colorado Author Kellen Cutsforth, discussing his new book, “Boozers, Brothels, and Bare Knuckle Brawlers: The Tale of Buffalo Bill’s Little Known Benefactor.”
