CITY MEETINGS
7:30AM Citizens Budget Advisory Committee Meeting
This will be CBAC’s last chance to review and discuss the 2024 Operating Budget and Capital Improvement Plan before it goes to Council for final approval. The meeting packet includes an interesting memo that describes which projects we plan to fund next year, how much revenue we anticipate receiving, how much we plan to spend, and how many new people the City plans to hire (beginning on p. 8).

GETTING READY FOR THE HOLIDAYS!
The Olde Golden Holidays are kicking off this weekend, with Friday night’s Candlelight Walk. Get ready by buying a commemorative candle at Truly Bohotique or Earth Sweet Botanicals. The suggested donation is $3 per candle which goes to support the holiday activities provided by the Olde Golden Holiday Committee.
The Golden Gate Grange is hosting a concert Friday night at 7PM, followed by desserts: The Peak to Peak Chorale Presents: A Holiday Mountain Celebration in Song.
Foothills Art Center will open their 48th Annual Holiday Art Market! They are having a members-only preview on Thursday and it opens to the public on Friday (10AM-5PM). CORRECTION: An earlier version of this announcement said that the Art Market would take place at the Astor House. Due to construction delays, the Astor House is not yet open. The Art Market will be at the original location, at 15th and Washington.
Miners Alley Performing Arts Center is opening their first play in the new building: the Great American Trailer Park Christmas Musical. The first performance that’s open to the public will be Sunday at 2PM.
The rest of the weekend is even busier! For a quick preview of the rest of the holiday events, check our Olde Golden Holidays calendar.
GOLDEN HISTORY MOMENT
Last week, we announced that the Golden Optimist Club and Boy Scout Troop 329 had begun their annual Christmas tree sale in the US Bank parking lot (map):
The Golden Optimist Club is selling Christmas trees again this year. They will begin selling Friday, November 24 and every day thereafter until they are gone. The Optimists will again be helped by Boy Scout Troop 329. Proceeds support community projects of the Optimists as well as the scout troop. Weekday hours 4-7PM, Saturday and Sunday 10AM-7PM.
This advertisement appeared in the November 29, 1956 Colorado Transcript. Believe it or not, that wasn’t their first year of doing this sale. The Golden Optimists Club has been selling Christmas trees in Golden since 1954!
Thanks to the Golden History Museum for providing the online cache of historic Transcripts, and to the Golden Transcript for documenting our history since 1866!
