This is the Persian New Year, known as Nowruz or Norooz, which means “New Day.” The holiday, which dates back 3,000 years, is rooted in Zoroastrianism – an ancient Iranian religion. They’ll be celebrating tonight at Mines with traditional music, local dance, Iranian food, and stand-up comedy. Tickets are $20. For information and tickets, email skhademi@mines.edu or call 303-278-4237.
Rutt Bridges, a futurist, entrepreneur, and author will be speaking tonight at the Unitarian Church on Autonomous Vehicles & the Environment. In 2015 he wrote Driverless Car Revolution, and is working on a new book for this year, Driverless Conquers Congestion. The autonomous vehicle revolution will have deep impacts on society as everything revolves around transportation and the energy we use to move goods and people. Learn what the near future has in store, and what it means for the environment. The talk is free, and is co-sponsored by the Colorado Renewable Energy Society, the JUC Green Task Force, and New Energy Colorado/Golden Earth Days.

Miners Alley will open a new play tomorrow night–A Skull in Connemara. I’ll write more about it tomorrow, but I thought I’d mention it today, so you’d have a chance of getting opening night tickets. The New York Times said that the play is “Wickedly funny and brilliantly abrasive. …[McDonagh] loves to push both feeling and humor to the extreme.”
