Golden hosts a lot of big public events, and this weekend’s USA Pro Cycling Challenge may be the biggest one yet.
It’s really good news, then, that we’re using this as an opportunity to showcase sustainable living practices. We’re going to have special waste stations set up downtown where people can not only recycle but also send appropriate things to be composted. In a few months, we’ll be using that compost in the city’s gardens.
In addition, our food vendors will be using compostable cups and we’ll have popcorn cooked with solar energy! The expo in Parfet Park will include recycled artwork and alternative energy demonstrations.
