CITY MEETINGS
6:30PM Planning Commission Meeting @ City Hall
Discussion and Public Hearing: The Planning Commission will discuss the City’s Annexation Plan. This is an annual exercise required by the state, in which the City reviews surrounding areas and evaluates the pros, cons, complications, etc., of annexing property in that area. The City is not actively pursuing any annexations, but would consider one if approached by a property owner. Since annexation means the City becomes responsible for providing infrastructure (water, sewer, roads, etc.), we would need a good reason to agree to it. “Good reasons” can include
- Control and manage the location and character of future growth and development
- To make the City boundaries more cohesive, organized and logical
- To achieve economic development goals
- To protect and control the environment of the City and its perimeter.
They will also discuss “any form zone standards for potential future code amendments.”

GOLDEN HISTORY MOMENT
The 1920s were a stylish decade. Art Deco made its way even into advertisements in a small-town paper such as the Colorado Transcript. I was particularly struck by the ads in the December 6, 1928 edition. By all means, enjoy the larger version of the ads above!
Thanks to the Golden History Museum for providing the online cache of historic Transcripts, and to the Golden Transcript for documenting our history since 1866!
